Emo/scene?

Okay so i dont really class myself as "emo" or "scene". Well tbh dont class myself as anything. But, i have black hair, and i use extensions that are blue, red, coontail bla bla. And I have quite colourfull taste in clothes. Anyway, recently I've been getting called scene? Which I dont understand because i LOVE pink, and shopping and lots of girly things... I dont even think I know what "scene" people do?

Dont mean to "discriminate" but i just dont understand, if i style my hair a certain way am I therefore an EMO?

As far as labels go, that sounds pretty scene. Scene kids can like pink and such. The coontail definitely screams scene. Scene kids tend to be loud and generally have a good time. They have a lot of confidence, which makes some of them stuck up. They take a lot of pictures (to post on their Myspaces!). They like little kid things like dinos, hairbows, coloring books, and playing in playgrounds. They like to go to concerts, but refer to them as "shows". They wear skinny jeans, tight shirts, and eyeliner.

The girls usually have a choppy hair cut, and they tease their hair a lot. The guys usually have long bangs which must be tossed out of their face. The girls usually have bright make-up. They love EVERYTHING in day-glo colors. They like to add extra letters to words, like kid is kidd, rawr is rawwr, et cetera. They use old slang like stellar and rad. They also listen to hardcore music and love bands that nobody else has ever heard of.

And Emo was a genre of music that DIED in the 90's (Dag Nasty, Rites of Spring).

If you don't like what people say, just ignore it. Labels are for soup cans.

You're just someone who's scene because you really ARE, not because of the stereotype. Don't start calling yourself scene, just keep being who you are. The only real scene kids are the ones who don't classify themselves.

But yeah, you fit the bill of a scene kid.

No, thats called being yourself. I have an endless amount of Polos and I wear lots of pleated plaid skirts. Everyone says i'm preppy, but I still go into Hot topic. People who don't actually know you, will always try and put you into a group. Its just what kids do, and we all do it.

|Hair|

Scene hair, despite popular belief is not about the cut, but more about the shape %26amp; styling.

- For example, a normal hair cut can be turned scene by simply sweeping a side-parting (to creat a emo-style fringe) and adding volumising hair spray.

What defines scene hair?

1) Volume - whether this be by backcombing hair (brush hair upwards from tip to root), adding lots of volumising hair spray and gel, or adding a layer of hair extensions underneath. (clip ins are easy for this)

2) Colour - Dye hair, or add coloured streaks and extensions. Add stripes (a.k.a. 'coon tails') for added effect.

3) Accesories: Bows %26amp; clips.

A typical scene cut: Longer at the front, shorter at the back (mullet). This suits most facial structures and people, as long as you work it around your face.

Long face: add a full-set or partial fringe.

Round/square face: fringe not essential.

|Makeup|

1) Heavy eyemakeup can be achaived with an all-around eyeliner (liquid eyeliner on lids) and dark/bright eyeshadow. Optional large fake lashes to enlarge eye.

2) Bright lipstick/gloss

3) Add body jewels and glitter.
