How can i stop thinking everyone's trying to be emo?

you could label me "emo" since i am "emo"tional and all and i fit the stereotypical style. A lot of other people at my school where the style and have the hair....so I automaticly think they're trying to be emo since they're not depressed or anything. How can i stop thinking of emo as a style instead of a feeling?

Emo is a style. It's a sad attempt at re-creating the punk rock scene. None of the kids who are "emo" are really truly depressed or sad - just look at them, they all have tons of friends and money to blow on clothes and cd's and their parents all provide them with everything they need. It's just another trend, so you are correct in thinking of it as a style rather than a feeling.

Remember when it used to ba a bad thing? Now it's a "trend"

EMO IS NOT A STYLE. EMO IS NOT A FEELING. IT'S A TYPE OF MUSIC.

You're thinking of scene. Big poofy hair, lots of layers, heavy, colorful eye makup, skinny jeans, etc etc. You know. It's SCENE. Not emo. Emo isn't a feeling it isn't a style. Someone doesn't dress this way because they are depressed either. I don't know exactly what you are thinking, that one dresses a certain style when they are depressed and if someone dresses that way and they aren't depressed they're a poser or someting. Honestly, I think you need to mature a little bit and quit paying so much attention to other people.

My sister has the same problem as you...just think about how annoying it is to other people around you and maybe then you'll stop doing it.

Just dress how you want, and if that's considered emo so be it. If you act emo then that's how you act. How you dress does not define who you are and people at your school are retarded if they want to classify everyone who looks and acts a ceratin way. What if they like styling their hair like that? Or what if they're just trying to be cool? Who cares if they're depressed or not? That's just how they're acting and it's their right as a human being.
